· Are you trying to make the case around technology enabled care (TEC) to colleagues?
· Maybe you want to supercharge your telecare comms to people and families?
· TSA have developed a range of free, amendable resources that communicate how TEC supports people, families and carers.
Why are these resources needed?
In the UK, technology enabled care (TEC) supports over 2 million people to live safely and independently in their own homes. Yet there are still many disabled and older people, their families and unpaid carers, who don’t know about TEC: what’s available, how to access it and how it can support them.
One reason for this lack of understanding is a focus on equipment, not people. Messaging and imagery around TEC often centres on gadgets, sensors and alarms rather than the difference these technologies make to people’s everyday lives.
TSA, the national advisory body for TEC, has created the #EverydayTEC Campaign to show the impact TEC has on individuals and families – how it helps them to flourish and thrive, not just survive.
A short video, social media cards and clips, a poster and roll banner have been developed and they are free to use and amendable so you can add your organisation’s logo and contact details.
TSA has also developed a language guide to encourage the use of a simple, common vocabulary across the sector, with wording centred on the difference TEC makes to people’s lives.
We’re keen to spread the word, so these assets are used by people working in the health and social care services, from physios and technology leads to social workers, occupational therapists and adult social care heads of service.
By shifting how we talk about TEC and focusing on people, rather than kit, we can inspire more individuals, families, and care professionals to explore and have confidence in its everyday potential.
